Our favourite ways to incorporate more colour into makeup routines

The colour issue and how to come over to the colourful side

We get it. It's only natural to fall into a makeup rut that includes more functional than fun elements when you're constantly on the go. But we are here to share our favourite ways that we incorporate simple, quick, wearable and fun elements into your makeup routine that promise to brighten your mood and put a pep in your step.

Multisticks (or Tints)

Our top product pick to add a subtle wash of colour to any makeup look is definitely the mighty multistick. These space saving, waste saving and time saving beauties are a great way to dip your toes in and test the waters when it comes to playing with colour. Simply sweep them across cheeks, lids and lips and you've effortlessly created a stylish monochromatic look. Easy as cherry pie!

Tints we love..the Lula Fox Lip and Cheek Tints. Shop all 3 shades here.

A bold lip

We're suckers for a bold lip look, but if you're not used to colour on your lips consider starting off with a bright gloss.

We love the Mineral Fusion Hydro Shine Lip Glosses which come in 13 juicy shades and contain Vitamin E to ensure you're nourishing the lips while adding a splash of colour. Available here.

For those of us not afraid of a bright opaque colored lipstick, our go to is the Inthusiasm Lipstick, available in 22 shades and perfect for creating long lasting, vivid, smudge-free colour. Shop those here.

Colourful eyeliners

Consider replacing your black or brown eyeliner with something a little more colourful. Upgrading your eyeliner from a basic neutral colour is one of the easiest ways to break out of a makeup rut. Green eyeliner works wonderfully with brown and hazel eyes while blue eyeliner can work wonders to bring out the lighter brown and golden flecks in brown eyes. If you’re a bit unsure about these bolder colors, however, try lining just the waterlines of your eyes for a more subtle effect.

Our favourite green eyeliner is the Dr Hauschka Eye Definer in shade Green available here

And be sure to check out the beautiful blue Pure Smoky Kohl Liner by Hey Gorgeous here

Experimenting with colour should be fun and not at all intimidating. Remember that it's only makeup, if you don't like how it looks you can always take it off.
